Surgical Skills Institute

The Surgical Skills Institute (SI) is an educational-, research- and traninigcenter for surgeons, residents, students and scrub technicians. The project was realized in a close cooperation between Private Clinic Hochrum, Private University for Health Sciences, Medical Informatics and Technology (UMIT/Hall in Tirol), Research Unit for Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and Injury Prevention (OSMI) and the Surgical Skills Institute.

A state-of-the-art laboratory with fully equipped workstations for all arthroscopic and open procedures was established in the premises of the Private Clinic in Hochrum. The Surgical Skills Institute was created for highly efficient and personal trainings in small groups (max. 10 persons) or single trainings and can be booked for workshops, training for OR staff, product development or testing of new implants or instruments, as well as research projects There are video transmission options between the OR, the wetlab and lecture halls (20 to 120 places). Human fresh frozen and dummy specimens are available.

As the laboratory is located right on the level under the surgical section of the private clinic, it combining observation of procedures with internationally renowed surgeons and real hands-on training may open a highly attractive option for trainings. The same surgeons and many more from the international network are available as instructors for trainings, courses and workshops.
